DRUMMING UP JUSTICE
I created Drumming Up Justice to generate donations to organizations and candidates that aim to end police violence and systemic racism against BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities in America. Its core operational philosophy is that everybody can and must find a way to integrate the advancement of this cause into their daily habits and activities. For me as a percussionist, this is what that currently looks like.
What I’m Offering:
A collection of 120 unique and high-quality drum loops and over 150 one-shot drum samples in 24-bit, 44.1khz WAV, Apple Loop, and EXS formats. All were played, recorded, edited, mixed, and processed by me, Tyler Sabbag. They are not available anywhere else, and they are 100% original, royalty-free, unique, hand crafted, and very saucy.
The drum set featured on the recordings is an incredibly unique kit consisting of a handmade bass cajon kick drum, a remarkable selection of broken and/or trashy-yet-gorgeous sounding cymbals, a 6-foot long rope of tiny brass bells, a set of three larger, very rusty bells, two floor toms from two very different eras (1960’s and 2000’s) with rattly bits bungeed onto the heads, a set of bongos, a metal shaker from Ghana, two propane tanks, and a Yamaha Elvin Jones signature snare drum. One of a kind!
This drum set has since been disassembled and will probably never be assembled again, but it lives on through this collection.
How To Get It:
Make $25 (or more!) worth of donations to one or several of the options listed below, send the receipt(s) to DrummingUpJustice@gmail.com, and I will send you the collection. If a $25 donation is not presently feasible, give what you can (it doesn’t have to be money) and email me — you can still get the collection!
Options for donation:
Florida Rights Restoration Coalition
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
Black Lives Matter Los Angeles (or your local chapter)
Anti Police Terror Project
Joe Biden
FRRC, DSSC, and Joe Biden were chosen out of a desire to oust racist, corrupt, and wannabe fascist republican officials on a national level in the upcoming November election, while BLMLA and APTP are powerful localized efforts at ending systemic racist violence in their communities.
Lastly, I hereby challenge everybody in my community of music creators (if you’re reading this, that means you) to create their own sample pack donation generator. It doesn’t have to be huge or complicated! Do what you can — I guarantee you will make something interesting that can’t be found elsewhere. We’re all constantly looking for amazing new sounds, aren’t we? Let’s accept the challenge, create them ourselves, share them with the world, and get money flowing in the direction of justice.
